The conference for experts and senior practitioners from the field of controlling.

The WHU Campus for Controlling is an annual conference hosted by the Institute of Management Accounting and Control. It is specifically aimed at controllers and managers from the business community. Our mission is to foster an intensive and innovative dialogue between corporate practice and research in the field of controlling. The conference agenda also includes a presentation of the latest research findings and analyses from the WHU Controller Panel.

Participation is possible for everyone who is interested in the field of controlling.

Agenda of the 14th WHU Campus for Controlling – Virtual Campus Week

Controllers' time to shine!

Every crisis has its opportunities and risks, its winners and losers. This specifically applies to the current situation. The measures taken against Covid-19 have massive global implications for the economy, politics and society. The measures taken against Covid-19 have massive effects on the economy, politics and society worldwide, and in such a crisis controllers` core competencies really come into play. Their skills in analyzing data and managing liquidity and costs are of key importance when it comes to avoiding the worst and getting the ship back on course as quickly as possible. Preparing for future crises is also on the list!

For the first time, this years’ WHU Campus for Controlling will take place as a web conference in cooperation with our partners Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), International Association of Controllers (ICV) as well as our media partner WHU Controlling & Management Review. The event will be extended to a whole week with one speaker per day,

Bjarte Bogsnes
Chairman, Beyond Budgeting Institute
Senior Advisor Performance Framework, Equinor


Bjarte Bogsnes has a long international career, both in Finance and HR. He is currently heading up the Beyond Budgeting implementation at Equinor. 

He has spent half his career outside Norway, including several years in the European petrochemicals company Borealis as vice president for corporate control and later for human resources. At Borealis he also headed an initiative to manage the company without a budget. He graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in 1983, joining Equinor in the same year.

Dr. Lars Grünert
CFO, TRUMPF GmbH & Co. KG

Lars Grünert studied technical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) before obtaining his Ph.D. at university of Stuttgart (Germany). He started his career as consultant with Horváth & Partners and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants at various locations.
His entry into TRUMPF took place in 2002, when he took over as Head of Controlling of TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG at the headquarter in Ditzingen (Germany). In 2005 he was appointed Division-CFO of TRUMPF laser technology.
Since 2010, Dr. Grünert is a member of the executive board of the TRUMPF Group. In 2014 he advanced to the position of the group’s CFO. Since then he headed finance & controlling at TRUMPF, currently also being responsible for TRUMPF Financial Services, procurement and TRUMPF Photonic Components. Since 2018 he is a member of the supervisory board of BECHTLE AG.

 

 

 

Hans-Martin Hellebrand
CFO, eprimo GmbH

Hans-Martin Hellebrand is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of eprimo GmbH and also has been managing director of the utility-platform-provider rEVUlution since 2019. 

After his business administration studies at the University of Bielefeld, Hans-Martin Hellebrand  started his professional career in the Controlling department of RWE Systems AG. During the next 8 years, he had various finance management roles within RWE’s international IT organization, lead optimization- & IT-projects and acted as CFO for RWE’s captive IT in Hungary.

From 2016 to 2018 Hans-Martin successfully passed the EMBA program of WHU & Kellogg Northwestern University. During the past years he received multiple awards for his professional as well as academic achievements.

Dr. Alexander Sasse
Partner and Board Member,
Concentro Management AG


Alexander Sasse studied Business Administration at the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 2001 he finished his dissertation project on quality cost management at Friedrich-Alexander University.
In 2001 he started at the consulting company Horváth & Partner and became Senior project manager, authorised signatorya and head of the competence team for capital efficiency.
In 2007 he joined Concentro Management AG. His areas of focus are: Management control, performance optimization, strategy development & implementation, restructuring, corporate finance with focus on M&A.
Since 2003 and 2009 Alexander Sasse lectures at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and at Hochschule Zwickau (University of Applied Sciences of West Saxony).

Professor Dr. Utz Schäffer
Director Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IMC), WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management

Utz Schäffer is Director of the Institute of Management and Controlling of WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management together with Marko Reimer and Jürgen Weber. His research focuses on the role of the controller and the digital transformation of the finance function.
